Prison guard charged with hate crime over Nicholas Rossi ‘religious slur’

A PRISON guard has been charged with a hate crime after allegedly aiming a “religious slur” at fugitive rape suspect Nicholas Rossi, we can reveal.

The warder, 68, is accused of insulting the convicted sex offender, 35, who claims to have converted to Judaism behind bars at Edinburgh nick.

Rossi— fighting extradition to the US where he’s wanted on sex attack and fraud raps — is thought to have complained to jail chiefs who called in cops.

A Police Scotland spokesman confirmed: “A 68-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a hate crime directed at a man at HMP Edinburgh, which was reported on April 13.

“He has been released on an undertaking to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court later.”

Rossi uses more than a dozen alias and claims he’s Irishman Arthur Knight.

His extradition hearing ended abruptly last month after he claimed to be unwell.

The city’s sheriff court had earlier been told by a hospital medic that staff had to attend to him in pairs for their “protection” after he made a string of complaints about individuals.

Tonight an insider branded the sex fiend — snared at Glasgow’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital after a Covid fight — a “compulsive liar”.

They added: “Rossi is renowned for making complaints and telling lies.

“This is the guy who claimed he awoke from a coma to find someone had been into his ward and tattooed his arms.

“He is a fantasist who should not be taken seriously.”

During his extradition case, Rossi called upon a caged paedo to back up his claims that he was being mistreated by prison staff.

Rossi’s doctor also cast doubt on his insistence that he can’t walk and needs a wheelchair.

A Scottish Prison Service spokesman said: “We expect the highest standards of behaviour from all our staff, and where they fall short, we have procedures in place to deal with this.”
