OVER one hundred trans rights activists staged a protest over a screening of a gender critical film tonight.
The group held up banners and chanted as people attended the event at the University of Edinburgh.

Cops and security guards formed a ring of steel around the uni building at the capital’s George Square.
The controversial Adult Human Female movie questions whether transgender women are “really harmless” and has been branded as “dangerous” by critics who claim it promotes transphobia.
The screening went ahead on Wednesday night despite the protest taking place.
Various banners were on display outside the event.
One read: “Gender queer people need safety too.”
Others said: “No feminism without transwomen” and “F*** TERFS queer solidarity”.
One stated: “If this is about academic freedom why won’t the uni fact-check the film?”
Another added: “Transphobia is very cringe.”
This was the third attempt to show the film after previous events in December 2022 and April this year were cancelled after activists blocked entrances to the lecture theatres.
The screening was organised by the group University of Edinburgh Academics for Academic Freedom, which is made up of university staff concerned about what they term the “censoriousness” climate surrounding discussions about transgender rights.
